Bowlathon Fundraiser

Bowlathon Fundraiser

Members of the Real Estate Board of the Fredericton Area, Inc joined together with friends and associates for several hours of fun bowling to raise money for the Fredericton Community Kitchen. Through the generosity of sponsors, team pledges and Board members, a total of $23,000 was raised in support of the Fredericton Community Kitchen. The amount raised will be dedicated to the month of March, one of the leanest months the Kitchen experiences. The Kitchen has been in operation since December 1982 and serves over 100,000 meals a year to those less fortunate.

Century 21 sends Kids to Camp!

Century 21 sends Kids to Camp!

Easter Seals New Brunswick, Resource Development Coordinator, Helene Caplice and Noah Folz Ambassador for ESNB were in Woodstock, Monday July 11th to receive 2 generous cheques from Century 21's Linda Currie. The Fredericton and Woodstock Century 21 offices have been busy raising funds to help send children with disabilities to Camp as part of their Kids to Camp Campaign.

Woodstock's Century 21, All Seasons Realty office, raised a wonderful $964.00 and the Fredericton Century 21, Capital River Valley Realty, gave a generous cheque for $210.00. The Easter Seals Kids to Camp Campaign funds the programs run at Camp Rotary, a fully accessible residential camp on Grand Lake for children and adults with physical and developmental disabilities. The Century 21 offices plan many fundraising events throughout the year to make a child's dream of going to camp become a reality.

Dawn Peltola and Ruth Giberson also supports the Dun Roamin Stray and Rescue in Florenceville. I, myself collected over 800 pounds of pet food and supplies. I have a soft spot for abused dogs especially as I have two rescued dogs myself adopted from the Dun Roamin Stray and Rescue. The picture was taken after about 1/2 the food was put away as there wasn't enough room for it all in the same picture. Last year was our first Annual collection and this year hopefully will be better than last year. It runs for the full month of November. The following are the 3 main aspects of Dun Roamin Stray and Rescue:

Rescue: helping those strays who are injured, neglected, sick, etc and have no one to care for them. We also try to help those who are too sick, too injured or too young to survive in a normal shelter setting;

Dun Roamin Stray and Rescue

Treatment: providing food, medication, surgery, etc to all rescued animals as required. This also includes helping them to find foster and permanent homes, and ensuring they have the life they deserve which is safe, secure and free of fear; and

Education: we endeavour to set an inspiring example. We believe animals are deserving of our care and respect. Through our responsible guardianship of the pet, by ensuring they are spayed or neutered, by providing briefings, handouts, flyers, newspaper articles, etc, we try to encourage people to treat all animals with compassion and respect. Our main target group is the younger generation so that they will do better by animals, as hopefuly we have improved upon their treatment through the advancements since our parents' and grandparents' generations.

I also want to thank the FREB for their generous donation, it was very appreciated. Hoping another will be there again this year. --Dawn

A local realtor is giving back to the community in her own unique way. Earlier this year, Kathy Barret (Pineo) of Re/Max Group Four Realty Ltd., began implementing her own pay-it-forward program to help out local charities in the greater Fredericton area.

Pineo, who has been in the real estate industry for nine years, said she used to give her customers door knockers, a personal gift, as a closing gift. But in the spring, she decided to do something more.
